Do you have parking?
Yes, there is plenty of free parking. A member of staff will give you all the information you need when you sign up. If you didn't want to drive on site, there is parking across the bridge in Darley Abbey.
Are the memberships a contract and what is the cancellation policy?
There is no contract. This means that your payments are on a rolling monthly direct debit. If you ever need to cancel there is a 30 day notice period for the direct debit company and your bank to get it actioned.
Is the gym insured?
Yes, we have full public liability insurance. Plus each member of staff have their own liability insurance. They can be found at the gym, please ask at reception for details.
Does the gym have a defibrillator?
The defibrillator can be found in a cabinet on the wall by the front door.
How private and secure are the changing facilities and do you have lockers?
There are two changing rooms, one downstairs and one upstairs. Both have a block of lockers which have a four digit combination code to lock them. There is a men's and ladies shower room, plus three separate toilets.
Can I pay per session?
You can pay on the door for a one-off session. A gym session is £9 for adults and £6 for under 18's. You can also buy a weekly pass for £22.50. The sauna is £9 for a session or £15 for a combined gym and sauna day pass.
Do I receive an induction?
We welcome everyone to have an induction to help members get the most out of their membership.

Here are the answers to the questions we hear most.
How long should a session be?
Start with 15–20 minutes, and build up to 25–40 minutes as you adapt. Consistency matters more than duration.
Is it suitable after a workout?
Yes. Many members use the saunas after training.
Do I need to book?
Members can use the saunas during opening hours. No booking is needed.
Is infrared safer than traditional sauna?
Infrared uses lower air temperatures whilst heating the body gently, which many people find more comfortable.
What should I wear and bring?
Light gym kit or swimwear, 2 towels, sliders or flip flops, and a bottle of water.
Can I use the sauna if I am pregnant or have a medical condition
Please speak to your GP first. If you feel unwell at any time, stop your session and let us know.
How often should I use it?
Two to four times per week works well for recovery, sleep and stress.
Can I listen to music or a podcast?
Yes. Connect to the built in Bluetooth audio and enjoy your own soundtrack.

What happens in my first physio session?
We start with a short assessment to see what movements cause pain, then guide you through gentle exercises and hands-on treatment. You’ll leave with a plan that’s simple to follow at home or in the gym.
Do I need a doctor’s referral before booking physiotherapy?
No. You can book directly. If you already see a physio or coach, we can share your plan so everyone works toward the same goal.
Can I keep training while I recover?
Yes. We’ll show you what’s safe, what to limit, and what to avoid for now. Most people keep training with adjusted loads and ranges.
What injuries do you help with?
Knee, shoulder and back pain, post-surgery strength rebuilds, tendon issues and most training-related niggles. If we think you need medical review, we’ll say so before starting.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the injury and your goals. Most people notice progress after two to three visits, with steady improvement each week.
Do I need a gym membership to book physiotherapy?
No. You can book one-off sessions. Some people add a gym and sauna plan once they start building strength again.
Are the sessions private?
Yes. You’ll work in a calm space with access to racks, platforms and floor areas without crowds. There’s time to move carefully and ask questions.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable gym clothes and trainers. Bring any braces or straps you normally use, plus a water bottle.

What happens in my first session?
A short chat about your goals, a quick movement check and then hands-on treatment. We finish with two or three simple aftercare steps.
Can you help with back, knee or shoulder pain
Yes. We treat the area that is sore and the places that feed into it, then give you simple drills to keep results.
What should I wear?
Loose shorts or leggings and a top you can move in. We will keep you covered and comfortable at all times.
Is it only for athletes?
No. Office shoulders, school-run backs and weekend warriors are all welcome.
Is sports massage painful?
You are always in control of pressure. Some areas can feel intense for a few seconds, but treatment should never feel unsafe.
Will I get exercises to do at home?
Yes. Just a couple that match your time and energy so you actually do them.
Can I combine massage with the saunas?
Absolutely. Many clients use the infrared sauna before or after for extra relaxation and better sleep.
Do you work with personal training or physio
Yes. We can coordinate with our coaching team or your physio to keep everything joined-up.
Are under 18s allowed?
Yes, with parent or guardian consent.

Do I need any gym experience?
No. Your coach takes you through an induction, teaches the basics and builds a simple plan you can follow.
What happens in my first session?

How often should I book sessions?
Most people start with one or two sessions each week. As confidence grows, many move to weekly or fortnightly check-ins.
Can I train on my own between PT sessions?
Yes. You can use the gym on a membership, or choose PT-only access if you prefer to train only with your coach.
Can I request a female coach?
Yes. Female coaches are available on request.
Can PT help with sore knees, back or shoulders?
Yes. We adapt exercises, manage volume and tempo, and can involve physio or sports massage on site if needed.
Will I get a plan to follow?
Yes. You get a clear plan that matches your goals, time and energy, plus simple habits for everyday fitness.
Do I have to commit to a long contract?
No. Memberships are flexible with 30 days notice to cancel.

Do I need any boxing experience?
No. We start with stance, guard and footwork, then build pad work at a pace that suits you.
Is boxing good for stress and fitness?
Very. Short rounds improve breathing, coordination and cardiovascular health, and most people leave feeling calmer.
Can a personal boxing coach help with weight loss?
It helps by keeping training engaging. Pair sessions with simple nutrition and daily steps for the best results.
Do I need to bring gloves and wraps?
We provide the gloves, however wraps are a personal preference, which you will need to bring yourself. Bring a water bottle and wear comfortable gym kit.
How often should I book sessions?
Once or twice a week works well, with light activity or a gym visit on your own between sessions.
Is boxing safe for my wrists or shoulders?
Yes when taught well. We wrap the hands, use cushioned gloves and build volume gradually. We can adapt drills if you have niggles.
How long is a session?
Usually 30 minutes including a warm up, pad rounds and a cool down.

What age group is youth training for at ONE|DZ?
Our youth programme is designed for ages 11 to 17. It gives teenagers a safe and structured way to train in the gym with expert coaching and support.
Is it safe for teenagers to lift weights?
Yes. All sessions are led by qualified coaches who focus on correct technique, safe use of equipment and age-appropriate training. The goal is to build strength, confidence and healthy habits, not to push heavy weights too early.
Can parents watch the sessions?
Yes. Parents are welcome to stay during sessions if it helps your teen feel at ease. Many parents enjoy seeing the progress their teen is making first-hand.
What should my teen bring to a session?
Comfortable sportswear, a water bottle and trainers. Everything else, including equipment and guidance, is provided at the gym.
Where is ONE|DZ Gym located?
We are based in Darley Abbey Mills, Derby. The gym is easy to reach for families across Derby and offers free on site parking.

Everything You Need to Know About Sunbeds
How long should my first session be?
Most people start with 3–6 minutes depending on skin type. Only increase gradually if your skin responds well.
Is lotion required?
You don’t have to use it. If you do, choose indoor-tanning products and avoid SPF on areas you want to tan. Moisturise after your session.
How often should I use a sunbed?
Allow at least 24–48 hours between sessions. Two to three times per week is plenty for most people.
Who shouldn’t use a sunbed?
If you’re pregnant, have very sensitive skin, a history of skin cancer, or take photosensitising medication, speak to a medical professional first.
What should I bring or wear?
Bring a water bottle and wear whatever you are comfortable in. Remove makeup and jewellery.
Do I need to be over 18?
Yes. Sunbed use is strictly 18+. Please bring ID if asked.
Do I need to protect my eyes?
Eye protection is required, this will be provided at reception.
Can I listen to music on the sunbed?
Yes, there is a bluetooth sound system built in, search for E AUDIO and the password will be provided at reception.
